Originating in Italy, this ancient dog breed was highly prized by the aristocracy for their ability to hunt feathered game. The Bracco Italiano nearly became extinct during the early 1900′s, but the breed was revived by Italian breeder Ferdinando Delor de Ferrabonc. The Bracco Italiano is extremely rare in the United States.

Although bred for hunting, they also make excellent companion dogs. This breed is not recommended for novice dog owners.
