Puppies Are Cuddly, Cute And So Much Fun!

Puppies are adorable, soft and cuddly and fun. A new puppy dog brings joy, laughter and happiness into any home. But, beyond the sweet and cuddly, what does having a puppy mean for you? There are a few things you need to know.

Responsibilities as a puppy owner

Beagle Puppy Puppies need a lot of love, attention and training. These things help to form a long lasting bond with your puppy. Exposing your pup to friends and family early on on will guarantee he or she is a well-adjusted and content doggie that grows into a wonderful dog.

Taking on a puppy is a huge commitment. Puppies are little balls of energy and need regular exercise. But there are tons and tons of advantages.

Every pup goes through an adjustment period when they arrive at their new home. It’s the first time they’re away from their mother and litter mates. Keeping them active and engaged with their brand-new family members helps a good deal, but exercise wears them out so they sleep at night and are less likely to whine. Exercise also creates a healthy routine so they don’t become obese with age.

Teach your new puppy the house rules

Dachshund Puppy 150x150 The most essential thing to teach your pup from the beginning are the “house rules”. It’s crucial you make training a positive, enjoyable experience for your puppy dog. This can be the difference between a great, lovable dog and a obnoxious, troublesome dog. When your puppy does something correctly, they should be praised. They key to successful training is repetition, patience and positivity.

The five most important commands to teach your pupppy are sit, down, come, stay and heel.

If your puppy puppy doesn’t get it right at first, never resort to harsh punishment. It can make your puppy hostile, nervous and unable to be around groups of people. A a stern “no” is more than enough to let your puppy know they’ve done something wrong.

Proper puppy care

Husky Puppies Make your home as inviting as possible for your new puppy. Being prepared before you bring your pup home will go a long way towards making your doggie comfortable in his or her new environment. Here are a few necessities for puppies.

A comfy bed for your puppy to snuggle in

Get an inexpensive bed to start. Also, it’s an excellent idea to buy a bigger bed than required. That way you won’t have to replace it as often while your pet dog grows.

Toys to entertain your pup

Toys are extremely important, not only to exercise your puppy, but they also stimulate the brain. Plus, playing with your pup fortifies their bond with you. It’s essential that the balls you give your puppy are too large to swallow. Toys that squeak are a great choice because they will keep your doggie amused all on their own.

Remember, as your puppy grows, he or she will start teething. That’s why it’s important to invest in some high quality chew toys. Quality is important. Poor quality chew toys can fall apart and become a hazard to your puppy’s health.

When you play with your puppy, the most essential thing is to be happy and engaged. Remember, play time is bonding time with your pup. If you’re playing full-out, they will too.

Food and water bowls for your puppy’s nutrition

Don’t buy cheap water and food bowls becuase they easily. Also, avoid plastic ones. There have been cases where plastic bowls have made puppies eyes water.

Some pups are sloppy eaters so it’s a good idea to place a mat under the bowl.

Playtime is vital for your puppy

If you live in an apartment, you’ll need to take your puppy to a park or other public, open area to play. If you don’t have a park close by, neighborhood walks are the next best thing. Remember, puppies need exercise regularly in order to stay healthy and maintain good temperament. Daily exercise is essential.

Keeping your puppy clean

A grooming brush is important to keep your puppy clean. Your dog will shed more (or less) at different times of the year. If you brush regularly, there’ll be a lot less hair to clean up in your house. When bathing your pup it’s important to keep them calm.

Introduce your puppy to other pets

Labrador Puppy It’s very important if you have multiple pets that you introduce your new puppy a quickly as possible. If you familiarize your pets at a young age, they will be more likely to get along with them in the future. However, if you don’t, bad relationships can develop between your puppy and your other pets. Don’t force your new puppy on your other pets. It’s far better to let them develop a relationship in their own time.
