This dog breed is naturally sweet and well-behaved. The Basset Hound makes a wonderful family pet. The breed has a very gentle and loving nature. This breed is prone to howling and barking. The Basset will sound the alarm, but is far too mild to be a guard dog.

The long ears of the dog are this breed’s most distinguishing feature. The breed is moderately lazy and gets along better with older, considerate children. This breed has a tendency to be stubborn, but is never timid. Basset Hounds are naturally enjoyable, loving and mild dogs who are generally non-aggressive.
