Beaglier Overview
This dog breed is a cross between two breeds, the Beagle and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The Beaglier is a “designer” canine” notably common in Australia.
Beaglier Characteristics
This dog breed is small to medium in size. Usually, the Beaglier has the shorter muzzle of the Cavalier and the scenting abilities of the Beagle. Both breeds are avid hunters. Beagliers have giant, expressive eyes and are vigorous and athletic.
Beaglier Temperament
This dog breed is playful, good natured, mild and curious. The Beaglier is also affectionate, calm and outgoing. This breed loves human interaction and does not like to be left alone for prolonged periods. The dog gets along well with older, considerate children and other dogs, but not with cats and other household pets. This breed makes a good watchdog and will alert their household to visitors or abnormal sounds.
Beaglier Care
Regular brushing is advisable to remove loose and lifeless hair on the Beaglier’s coat. To preserve the natural oils of the coat, the breed should only be bathed when absolutely necessary. The ears need to be checked and cleaned regularly. This breed is vulnerable to epilepsy, ear infection, heart illness and patella luxation.
Beaglier Coat
The coat of the Beaglier is medium in length, close and hard. It may also be slightly wavy and silky.
Beaglier Training
This dog breed has stubborn tendencies and early socialization and obedience training is recommended for the Beaglier. These dogs do not respond well to harsh or heavy-handed methods. Training should be performed with firmness, fairness, persistence and consistency.
Beaglier Activity
This dog breed adapts well to most environments, provided that they are sufficiently exercised. They are very energetic breed and prefer ample space to romp and run. They take pleasure in leashed walks and family activities. Because of their hunting tendencies they should always be leashed and in a secure area.
